Max Blair Sweeps Opening Night as Stateline Speedway Launches New Era in 69th Season

Busti, NY – The 2025 season roared to life on Saturday, May 10th, as Stateline Speedway kicked off its 69th consecutive year of racing—and its first under new ownership by Bill and Lisa Catania. With fresh energy in the air, major upgrades on display, and a record-setting car count, the season opener was nothing short of historic.

Fans packed the stands to experience a completely revitalized Stateline, highlighted by free fan WiFi powered by Kinetic, fully renovated and expanded concession offerings, cold beer flowing for the first time in over a decade, and a long list of infrastructure improvements that laid the groundwork for an exciting new chapter in one of dirt racing’s longest-running traditions.

On the track, — 161 race cars filled the pit area, including an astounding 49 entries for the $4,000-to-win RUSH Late Model Touring Series Bill Law Memoriala Stateline record for the division.

But the night belonged to Max Blair, who delivered a dominant double-header performance. Blair started the night by pocketing $5,000 in the Dave Warren Auto Group Super Late Model special, commanding the field with a wire-to-wire win against a stout roster of regional heavyweights.

He returned later in the program to repeat the feat, taking home top honors in the Bill Law Memorial RUSH Late Model event, outrunning a record-setting field of 49 cars and etching his name deeper into Stateline lore. Blair’s back-to-back victories underscored his status as one of the premier drivers in the Northeast and set the tone for the season to come.

While Blair’s sweep grabbed headlines, fans were also treated to action across the AFAB Sales Outlaw Modifieds, RUSH Pro Mods, Pepsi Pro Stocks, RUSH Stock Cars, and Challengers—each delivering thrilling side-by-side racing on a surface that held up impressively despite the large field.
