BUSTI, N.Y. — A hot Saturday night at Stateline Speedway led to even hotter action on the track, as a picture-perfect racing surface provided a stellar backdrop for the Fourth of July celebration. The holiday program was headlined by the “America 250” for the RUSH Late Model Touring Series, alongside six other divisions and a brilliant fireworks display by SKM Pyro. With weather forcing the cancellation of other regional tracks and series, an overflow pit area saw invaders from across the region descend upon the Busti oval.
RUSH Late Model Touring Series Demetrios Drellos stole the show in a potential “Race of the Year” candidate, engaging in a thrilling slider-fest with Jeremy Wonderling. Utilizing his expertise on the high side, Drellos repeatedly traded slide jobs with Wonderling, ultimately clearing him and holding off both Wonderling and Jason Knowles to capture the 30-lap feature. The triumph marked Drellos’ first career RUSH Late Model Tour victory. Daryl Charlier, who was one of the final cars to qualify for the main event, earned hard charger honors by slicing his way through the field.
Super Late Models Capitalizing on a rainout at another facility, Greg Oakes made his unexpected trip to Stateline count by dominating the Super Late Model feature. Oakes initially held off high-side challenges from Brock Pinkerous, who later retired due to mechanical failures. In the closing stages, Oakes successfully navigated lapped traffic to fend off a late charge from Darrell Bossard and Jason Genco to secure the win.
UMP Modifieds The UMP Modified feature delivered another milestone victory, as “Showtime” Andrew Beatman added his name to the record books. Starting from the outside pole, Beatman navigated a chaotic stretch of early-race cautions to capture his first career feature win. Greg Johnson and CJ Ramsey had no answers for Beatman’s No. 5B machine and rounded out the podium. Adding to the division’s highlights, Tyler Rendell secured his first-ever top-five finish as a Modified driver.
RUSH Pro Mods The theme of first-time winners continued in the RUSH Pro Mod ranks, where Victor Earle Jr. claimed an emotional first Stateline Speedway victory, dedicating the triumph to his father. The $1,000-to-win Manufacturers Night special marked the biggest victory of Earle Jr.’s career. He successfully held off challenges from a stacked group of contenders, including the legendary Al Brewer, Dave Shagla Jr., and hard-charger Cody Vanguilder.
Pro Stocks John Boardman returned to victory lane in dominant fashion, pitching a perfect shutout at the front of the Pro Stock feature. Jason Black found speed on the high side late in the event and made significant forward progress, but ultimately ran out of time to catch the dominant Boardman.
RUSH Stock Cars In a RUSH Stock Car feature where passing proved difficult, Blaze Harrison was the lone driver to make significant forward progress. Harrison passed five cars as he marched to the front of the field, ultimately holding off Alex Bush to pick up the feature victory.
Challengers Pete Volpe secured another win “for the old guys,” taking control from his second-row starting spot to drive to a dominant victory in the Challenger division feature.
Upcoming Schedule Stateline Speedway returns to action for a massive mid-week special this Wednesday, featuring the World of Outlaws Super Late Model Series for the Rick Briggs Memorial, alongside the Woah Nellie Modified Invasion and the Pro Stocks.
