Rick Briggs Memorial World of Outlaws Late Models
A Memorial, A Homecoming, A World of Outlaws Showdown

July 8, 2026  |  by Stateline Speedway PR

Tonight, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series returns to Stateline Speedway for the first time in three years for one of the biggest events in the modern era of the track — the inaugural Rick Briggs Memorial.

This 40-lap, $15,000-to-win national late model showdown brings “The Most Powerful Late Models on the Planet” back to Busti, NY, and it does so with deep meaning for the Briggs family, the Stateline community, and dirt late model racing fans across the region. The event honors Rick Briggs, a former dirt late model racer and lifelong supporter of the sport, who passed away in 2017.

As Boom Briggs said:

“There isn’t a race that means more to Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., than tonight's World of Outlaws Late Model Series stop at Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y. — the inaugural Rick Briggs Memorial, run in honor of his father, a former Dirt Late Model racer who died in 2017 at the age of 68.”

This is a night built on history, family, and horsepower.

Stateline has hosted seven previous World of Outlaws Late Model events, and incredibly, all seven have produced different winners — John Blankenship, Dick Barton, Shane Clanton, Brandon Sheppard, Max Blair, Dave Hess Jr., and Nick Hoffman. Tonight marks the eighth World of Outlaws Late Model race ever contested at Stateline, and once again, history is ready to be written.

There are national storylines everywhere. Bobby Pierce comes to Stateline chasing World of Outlaws history, with a chance to win his seventh straight Series feature — something no driver has ever done in 25 seasons of World of Outlaws Late Model racing. Nick Hoffman returns to the place where he earned his first national late model victory in 2023. And Tim McCreadie brings the Briggs Transport Racing #9 into New York for a race that carries special meaning for the entire Briggs family.

But this is Stateline Speedway.

This is a track where local and regional racers have always had the ability to stand toe-to-toe with the biggest names in the country. The tight racing, changing surface, and passionate Stateline crowd create the kind of atmosphere where anything can happen — and often does.
