Kyle Bedell Celebrates in Denago Victory Lane presented by Dave Warren Golf Carts & Powersports

BUSTI, N.Y. — Mother Nature attempted to spoil the first August event of the season with late-evening rain showers, but Stateline Speedway successfully executed a “hurry-up” offense to beat the weather. The track crew efficiently pushed through a seven-division, 100-plus car program in just over three hours. Although rain began to fall during the final feature of the night, the event was safely concluded.

The evening was a massive success off the track as well, with Fan Appreciation Night delivering over $15,000 in giveaways for fans of all ages. Attendees went home with Apple products, bicycles, event tickets, and gift cards, while the speedway offered numerous concession specials to give back to the community that supports the historic Busti oval week in and week out.

RUSH Late Models While the Stateline Speedway staff earned praise for beating the rain, the on-track headline belonged to a thrilling RUSH Late Model feature. Kurt Stebbins and “Mr. Excitement” Jeremy Wonderling engaged in a spectacular duel for the victory, with both drivers charging forward seven positions through the field. Wonderling expertly navigated the high side to pull alongside Stebbins, but Stebbins found superior traction utilizing the middle and bottom grooves, ultimately holding off Wonderling’s momentum to secure the hard-fought win.

Super Late Models A dramatic Super Late Model feature concluded with Kyle Bedell parked in victory lane. Darrell Bossard controlled the race as the long-time leader until the closing stages, when Bedell aggressively changed his line to attempt a pass on the bottom. The move resulted in contact between the two leaders, allowing Bedell to seize the top spot and the feature win.

UMP Modifieds “The Lobster” Mason Lobb returned for his second trip to Stateline victory lane this season in the UMP Modified ranks. Starting from the outside pole, Lobb quickly snatched the lead from Matt Kosinski. From there, Lobb was forced to play defense, successfully fending off relentless challenges not only from Kosinski, but also from heavyweights Andrew Beatman, Andrew Hammond, and Greg Johnson.

RUSH Pro Mods Dave Shagla Jr. captured his first career RUSH Pro Mod feature victory. Shagla flawlessly navigated lapped traffic while holding off a hard-charging Cody Vanguilder, securing the milestone win with the entire top-six pack right on his rear bumper.

Pro Stocks John Boardman utilized a long weather-delay caution to his advantage in the Pro Stock feature. On the ensuing restart, Boardman powered past long-time race leader Jason Black, successfully beating both the field and the impending rain to the checkered flag. Earlier in the evening, the Gibson Brothers’ No. X1 machine was totaled in a vicious heat race wreck, abruptly ending their night.

RUSH Stock Cars William Baker Jr. checked out into a different zip code during the RUSH Stock Car feature. Baker dominated the event, comfortably holding off runner-up Dave McAvoy to pick up his first Stateline victory of the season. The division also saw heavy attrition early on, highlighted by a massive incident for Alex Bush in his heat race that ended his night prematurely.

Challengers The Challenger feature descended into chaos, with multiple cautions leading to a grueling, stop-and-go event that saw 11 cars—half the starting field—record a DNF. John Mease controlled the early portion of the race, but the closing laps belonged to Brandon Huffman. Driving in a car swap with his wife, Billi Jo Huffman (who was eliminated in a separate lap-one incident involving Kayla York and Holden Heineman), Brandon executed a brilliant outside pass on Mease to take the lead. Heineman followed him through to claim the runner-up spot. The high-attrition race carried major championship implications, with several front-runners, including weekly top-five contender Annaleesa Diabo, suffering DNFs.

Upcoming Schedule Stateline Speedway returns to action with a can’t-miss, rare two-day blockbuster on August 8th and 9th. The weekend will be headlined by the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars, joined by the BRP Big Block Modifieds and the Super Late Models.
